Shropshire CIEH Region

Really enjoyable session on 22 July. Over 30 local authority delegates from Shropshire, Worcester and the regions were taken through a live accident investigation scenario. Lots of discussion about enforcement, investigation and of course when to interview under caution.

CPS Code for Crown Prosecutors – Justice no longer at any cost

The CPS Code for Crown Prosecutors has recently been updated. It simplifies the decision making process when considering whether to prosecute and applies to all regulators.

It is still based on passing the evidential and public interest tests but also requires the prosecutor to consider the cost in bringing the prosecution.

M5 Firework Investigation

Fireworks organiser rejects health and safety charge in M5 crash-deaths case

What is interesting about this case are that that comments about it relate to HSE when the enforcing authority will be the Local Authority.  It always amazes me how ignorant people are with comments like .. there have always been pile-ups on motorways in fog.. I imagine the case relates to poor planning and as a result excessive SMOKE NOT FOG causing a multiple pile up.

Oh sorry I forgot health and safety is a burden rather than a moral responsibility…
